Riverside Enterprises is a waste management and environmental services company that provides garbage collection, recycling, and waste-to-energy solutions in Nairobi and its environs. Founded in 2010, the company collects waste from over 50,000 households and 2,000 commercial premises daily. Riverside operates a material recovery facility that processes 200 tonnes of waste per day, diverting approximately forty percent from landfill through recycling and composting. The company employs 600 staff and runs a fleet of sixty collection trucks. Riverside is licensed by NEMA and is a member of the Kenya Waste Management Network.
What you will do:
You will develop and manage sourcing strategies for key categories of spend, identify and qualify new suppliers, and negotiate contracts that deliver value for the organisation. The role involves conducting market analysis to understand supply trends and pricing dynamics, developing total cost of ownership models, and presenting recommendations to senior management. You will also manage vendor relationships, conduct regular performance reviews, and implement supplier development programmes to improve quality and delivery performance. The position requires experience in strategic sourcing, contract management, and supply chain risk assessment. Knowledge of international trade terms, customs procedures, and import regulations is valuable for categories that involve imported goods.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related field
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in a similar position
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in relevant industry software and tools
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across teams
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices
