About Southpoint Holdings
Southpoint Holdings is a microfinance bank that provides savings accounts, mobile loans, business loans, and asset finance to micro and small enterprises in the coastal region of Kenya. Licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya as a microfinance bank, Southpoint was founded in 2007 and operates fourteen branches in Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Malindi, and Lamu. The bank serves over 60,000 depositors and has a loan book of KES 3.8 billion. Southpoint Holdings also operates agency banking through 350 agents and offers mobile banking through USSD and smartphone apps.
What you will do:
You will install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment including fibre optic cables, routers, switches, and base stations. Daily tasks include conducting site surveys, pulling and splicing fibre optic cables, configuring network equipment, and testing signal quality. The role involves working at heights on telecom towers and in underground ducts, so physical fitness and a head for heights are essential. You will also prepare installation reports, maintain as-built drawings, and coordinate with the network operations centre to resolve service-affecting faults. Experience with fibre optic splicing, OTDR testing, and telecom power systems is required. The position involves travel to remote tower sites and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Requirements:
- Diploma in a relevant field from a recognised institution
- Minimum 1 year of working experience in a similar role
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Must be a Kenyan citizen aged 21 years or above
