
Intern Political Affairs at Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of a Political Affairs Officer within the OSESG-GL Political Affairs Unit (PAU), the responsibilities of the intern may include, but are not limited to:
Prepare documents, for review, including correspondence, talking points and background notes;
Conduct research in areas of interest to the Political Affairs Unit, based on public sources;
Attend and prepare summary notes of meetings, conferences, and seminars;
Provide logistical and other assistance in organizing conferences, meetings, seminars, and workshops; and,
Perform other duties, as required.
Qualifications/special skills
Must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in international relations, political sciences, economics, development, public administration, or other related fields; In addition, the candidate must:
Be computer literate in standard software applications;
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter;
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
