About Maplewood Holdings

Maplewood Holdings is a dairy farming and processing company that operates a 2,500-acre farm in Uasin Gishu County and a processing plant that produces fresh milk, yoghurt, cream, and cheese. Founded in 1998, Maplewood milks approximately 3,000 cows daily and processes 120,000 litres of milk per day. The company sells through its own retail brand in supermarkets across Kenya and also supplies bulk milk to other processors. Maplewood employs 600 staff and holds ISO 22000 food safety certification. The company runs an artificial insemination programme and a farmer training initiative that supports 500 surrounding smallholder dairy farmers.

What you will do:

In this role you will work directly with smallholder farmers, providing agronomic advice, training on best farming practices, and facilitating access to inputs and markets. Day-to-day activities include conducting farm visits, organising farmer training sessions, and collecting data on crop performance and yields. You will serve as the link between the company and its out-grower farmers, ensuring that production contracts are understood and followed. The role requires extensive travel within the assigned region, so a valid motorcycle licence and willingness to spend most of the working week in the field are essential. You will also help farmers with soil sampling, input selection, and post-harvest handling to reduce losses. Strong communication skills in both English and Kiswahili are important because you will be working with farmers who have varying levels of formal education.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; a Master's degree is an added advantage
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate organisational goals into actionable plans
  • Professional certification in the relevant field (e.g. CPA, PMP, CIPS, or equivalent)
  • Experience managing budgets and reporting to senior leadership
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

If you meet the above qualifications and are interested in this opportunity, send your updated CV and a brief cover letter explaining why you are a good fit for the role. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within two weeks of the application deadline. Maplewood Holdings is an equal opportunity employer and does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
