Job Role / Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence you are expected to be capable of leading and coordinating business requirement scoping and documentation; implementation and/or maintenance of business intelligence applications; building and maintenance of scalable data pipelines in support of data and analytics projects. Excellent inter-personnel skills, Project Management skills, and oral and written communication skills are essential.
You will also be responsible for independently handling day to day complex operational issues, where thinking is guided by diversified procedures and specialized standards and precedents covering many situations. S/he will make decisions in line with the set policies to cater to the clients’ day to day needs as part of Global Data and Analytics Office (GDAO) objectives. Specifically, you will be responsible to;
- lead and coordinate business intelligence application implementation and maintenance in line with the GDAO charter operate within practices and procedures for smooth functioning of all operational services as per quality standards

- lead Business Requirements Analysis activity and participate in study, analysis, and design of systems. S/he should be capable of detailed DW and BI reports development. Should participate in the development process to a reasonable level
- lead and coordinate the maintenance of applications systems and related documentation
- must have thorough understanding Data Modelling and Data Analysis Techniques, requirements management techniques and other software development methodologies and should apply them
- lead partnership with other Data and Analytics teams in an effort to identify and implement system and process improvements

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:
- possess a formal and recognized bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related disciplines
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Professional Certification in a relevant field will be an added advantage
- minimum 4 years of experience working with stakeholders, users, and subject matter experts to gain a functional understanding of business problems, and building / maintaining data-driven analytics platform to solve complex business questions through data. Expert level proficiency in SQL writing and hands on in ETL / data visualization tools

- extensive experience with data processing and ETL/ELT techniques

- ability to take a significant role in the development and implementation of strategies for the operations and further development of data and analytics initiatives working closely with data governance and data protection team to build strong data foundation
- demonstrated ability to work cross functionally with business users and existing data and analytics groups across AKU in their current operating model to support the work of global data and analytics office (GDAO)
- thorough understanding and working knowledge of modern data warehouse principles and data models to provide visibility and self-service analytics for the business
- solid foundation in database design, and data pipelines. experience with writing and performance tuning of complex queries and ETL jobs
- ability to carry out feasibility studies, cost/benefit analysis, formulation of proposals for system enhancements, development, and implementation plan
- ability to see connections, patterns, or trends in the information available and identify the implications and possible consequences of trends or events that draws logical conclusions, providing options and recommendations
- ability to implement models for forecasting and predictive analytics, and mostly apply math and algorithmic skills, machine learning algorithms and tools on the data to get valuable insights from it
- ability to assume responsibility for work activities and coordinating efforts with minimal direction and supervision, delivering targets on time, working without constant supervision but willing to seek guidance or clarification when required
- ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users, possesses excellent troubleshooting skills to resolve issue in a timely manner
- ability to take action to avoid imminent problems or to capitalize on imminent opportunity and look for ways to achieve greater results or value addition
- must have good project management skills to effectively manage multiple projects
- ability to consistently achieve established expectations through personal commitment and make adjustments to activities/processes based on feedback
