About Thornhill Industries

Thornhill Industries is a plastic manufacturing company that produces packaging materials, PVC pipes and fittings, and plastic household products. The factory in Nairobi employs 350 workers and operates injection moulding, blow moulding, and extrusion lines. Founded in 2001, Thornhill supplies packaging to food manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, and consumer goods producers across East Africa. The company holds ISO 9001 certification and produces approximately 5,000 metric tonnes of plastic products annually. Thornhill Industries is a member of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers and participates in industry recycling initiatives.

What you will do:

You will supervise the production line, ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly, quality standards are met, and production targets are achieved. Daily tasks include monitoring machine performance, conducting quality checks on finished products, managing production staff, and reporting on output and efficiency metrics. The role involves troubleshooting production issues, coordinating with the maintenance team to minimise equipment downtime, and implementing process improvements to increase productivity. You will also ensure that all production activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Experience with lean manufacturing principles and quality management systems such as ISO 9001 is valuable. The position requires the ability to work in a factory environment with exposure to noise, heat, and chemicals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in a similar position
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in relevant industry software and tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across teams
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices
