Job Summary
To grow and transform the FX and International Banking business of Absa Business Banking into a market leading service offering with exceptional returns. Develop and drive the strategy of the FX business from product development to client experience and commercial management, by consolidating a myriad of forex solution offerings with an aim of simplifying delivery and ensuring leading edge design, coordination and
prioritization around the development and enhancement, keeping the needs of the customers in mind. Ensure that the strategic approach is aligned to the Pan African requirements of Absa Group.
Job Description
Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for the Business Bank FX / IB segment within the designated region.
Identify growth opportunities and market trends to drive revenue generation.
Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of FX / IB professionals.
Set clear performance targets and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to team members.
Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key corporate clients.
Understand client needs and provide tailored FX / IB solutions to meet their requirements.
Resolve escalated client issues and ensure client satisfaction.
Drive the achievement of sales targets and revenue goals within the region.
Monitor sales pipelines, track progress, and implement strategies to close deals.
Collaborate with other departments to cross-sell FX / IB products and services.
Stay updated on FX / IB market trends, economic developments, and regulatory changes.
Assess and manage risks associated with FX / IB transactions and currency fluctuations.
Identify market opportunities to drive FX / IB customer acquisitions to increase Bsuines Banking market share.
Identify and commercialize partnerships that enable Absa to acquire new FX / IB opportunities (SME, Commercial, Premium & High Value)
Develop and maintain an understanding of market trends and business lifecycle challenges and opportunities facing clients to offer solutions that meet clients needs.
Develop and maintain an understanding of competitor bank offerings including products, pricing, services etc.
Deliver a seamless FX / IB customer experience on digital channels and client facing colleague channels.
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with transactional banking operations, including credit, operational, and market risks.
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and internal requirements.
Implement robust control mechanisms to safeguard the bank’s assets and reputation.
Ensure that processes, control requirements and risk management frameworks that impact the area are documented and understood by all members of the team.
Ensure there are proper internal audit procedures and the timely resolution of all audit findings.
Education and Experience Required
A degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
An MBA or similar post graduate qualification is advantageous.
At least 10 years of experience in banking, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles within transactional banking or related business banking functions.
Proven track record in managing and growing a portfolio of transactional banking products and services.
