Environmental Media Champions at Nature Kenya
You qualify if you:
Are an active journalist in print, radio, TV, or digital media
Hold a valid Media Council of Kenya accreditation
Have 5+ years of environmental journalism experience
Can deliver compelling stories on short notice
What you will do as an Environmental Media Champion:
Conduct field visits to Kenya’s Key Biodiversity Areas and file stories for publication or broadcast
Produce in-depth feature stories on biodiversity and conservation themes
Cover Nature Kenya events – press conferences, international days, community forums, and policy dialogues – and publish or file stories
Post social media content that amplifies biodiversity and conservation stories
Develop original investigative or explanatory story scripts in consultation with Nature Kenya
Engage with and profile high-ranking decision-makers, change agents, and policy processes, from parliamentary committees to EIA reviews, to connect conservation science to public accountability
Monitor the media landscape and flag significant environmental stories to Nature Kenya for response or amplification
Participate in Journalist Forum meetings and mentor fellow environmental journalists
Submit performance reports documenting stories produced, audiences reached, and impact achieved.
