The Commission dates back to 1954 when Civil Service Commission was established by British Colonial Government following Holmes Commission Report, 1948; Civil Service Commission was advisory to the Governor in matters of appointments; At independence in 1963 it was enshrined in the constitution and renamed Public Service Commission.

Information Assistant III – 30 Posts

Requirements for Appointment:

  • For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Diploma in any of the following Social Sciences: Photojournalism, Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies or Media Studies/Science from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities
This will be the entry and training grade for Information Assistants. Duties and responsibilities will include:-

  • gathering, writing, dispatching news, information and features;
  • managing information gathering and dissemination systems; and
  • distribution of Government publications under the guidance of a senior officer.
