Renaissance Africa Energy Company is inviting applications for its 2026 Operations and Maintenance Technician Program for skilled and experienced technical professionals in Nigeria.

About the Operations and Maintenance Technician Role

The Operations and Maintenance Technician will be responsible for carrying out safe, efficient and reliable production operations and first-line maintenance activities across wells, facilities, equipment and associated systems.

The role supports asset availability, production targets and operational integrity through equipment inspection, troubleshooting, testing, repair, production monitoring and control room operations.

All activities must be carried out in accordance with approved company procedures, regulatory requirements and Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) standards.

Rotation Cycle

The role operates on a 21-days-on/21-days-off rotation cycle, or a similar schedule, across applicable onshore, swamp or offshore production locations.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for the following:

Production Operations

  • Operate oil and gas facilities, wells and associated assets safely and efficiently in accordance with approved operating procedures and HSSE requirements.
  • Execute routine and minor non-routine production operations.
  • Carry out equipment isolation, depressurisation and reinstatement activities.
  • Monitor production processes and respond appropriately to operational conditions.

Maintenance and Equipment Reliability

  • Perform preventive, predictive, corrective and routine first-line maintenance on plant, process equipment and associated systems.
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, diagnose and rectify equipment and process faults.
  • Perform routine equipment servicing, installation, commissioning, calibration, adjustment and functional testing.
  • Help minimise equipment downtime and maintain asset reliability.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor plant and equipment performance.
  • Collect and accurately record field data.
  • Identify potential equipment failures and opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Measure, validate and report production volumes accurately.
  • Collect required samples for analysis.
  • Maintain accurate operational, maintenance and integrity records.

Plant and Facility Response

  • Diagnose and respond appropriately to plant and facility upsets.
  • Implement approved corrective actions to restore safe and stable operations.
  • Support continuous improvement in production, maintenance and overall asset performance.

Education and Professional Qualifications

Applicants should have one of the following qualifications:

  • Ordinary National Diploma (OND/ND).
  • Full Technological Certificate.
  • Advanced Technical Diploma.
  • Relevant trade qualification.
  • Equivalent qualification in a relevant technical discipline.

Relevant fields may include:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Instrumentation
  • Electronics
  • Sciences
  • Other relevant technical disciplines

Relevant technical certification or professional qualifications will be an added advantage.

Work Experience Requirements

Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in technical maintenance, field operations and/or control room operations within an industrial, manufacturing, energy, oil and gas or similar operating environment.

Experience in upstream production operations will be an added advantage, particularly experience gained in:

  • Oil and gas
  • Petrochemical
  • Manufacturing
  • Industrial maintenance

Technical Competencies

Candidates should demonstrate competence in the following areas:

  • Relevant technical discipline and assigned equipment.
  • Preventive, corrective and first-line maintenance practices.
  • Equipment and process troubleshooting.
  • Root-cause analysis.
  • Permit-to-Work systems.
  • Task risk assessment.
  • Safe isolation practices.
  • Interpretation and application of operating manuals and technical drawings.
  • Application of procedures, work packs and method statements.
  • Completion of operational, maintenance and integrity records.
  • HSSE requirements and safety-critical equipment.
  • Operations management systems.
  • Frontline equipment checks.
  • Unsafe Act and Unsafe Condition audits.

Candidates should also be prepared to work on a rotational basis across onshore, swamp and/or offshore locations.

Working knowledge of upstream oil and gas production facilities will be an added advantage.
