Huduma Kenya to Roll Out New Public Procurement Services Nationwide
Huduma Kenya has announced plans to introduce public procurement services across all its centres nationwide following a new partnership with the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority. The agreement was reached during a consultative meeting held at the Huduma Kenya Secretariat offices, where both institutions agreed to bring procurement services closer to citizens while reinforcing accountability and convenience.
The agency confirmed that the new service is expected to enhance transparency, strengthen compliance with procurement regulations, and improve overall service delivery across the procurement sector. By expanding access through Huduma Centres nationwide, the government hopes to reduce bureaucratic hurdles that have previously complicated procurement processes for citizens and businesses alike.
This latest service addition follows several other partnerships that Huduma Kenya has recently established to expand its service portfolio. In February 2026, Huduma Kenya rolled out Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority services across all 59 Huduma Centres nationwide. The nationwide launch took place at Machakos Huduma Centre and was attended by State Department for Public Service Principal Secretary Dr Jane Imbunya and the CEO of the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority. Through this partnership, Kenyans can now visit any Huduma Centre to make enquiries, submit claims, receive guidance on required documentation, lodge complaints, and track the status of their claims.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has also trained clerks for deployment across 57 Huduma Centres nationwide. The three-day training took place at the Kenya School of Government. This initiative supports the Commission’s target of expanding voter registration and strengthening democratic participation ahead of the 2027 General Election. The Commission will provide voter registration and inspection of the register services at Huduma Centres, while changes of particulars and transfers of voting stations will continue to be handled at constituency offices.
In March 2026, the Affordable Housing Board and Huduma Kenya entered into a memorandum of understanding to roll out dedicated service desks across all Huduma Centres nationwide. The service desks provide a one-stop solution for prospective homeowners, guiding them through the entire process from registration on the Boma Yangu platform to payment and eventual allocation of housing units.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Affordable Housing Board explained that the partnership is intended to simplify and demystify the home acquisition process. The CEO of Huduma Kenya welcomed the partnership, noting that Huduma Centres are well-positioned to bridge existing gaps in access to housing information. More than one million Kenyans have already registered interest through the Boma Yangu platform. Currently, the Affordable Housing Board is overseeing the construction of over 270,000 housing units across 111 constituencies, with more than 8,800 units completed since 2022.
Huduma Kenya has also confirmed that several Nairobi County services are now available at selected centres in Eastleigh, Kibra, and Makadara. Among the services now being offered are payment of ground rent, issuance of land rates invoices, business permit applications, county house rent payments, and payment of seasonal and daily parking fees.
Speaking at the 3rd Annual Huduma Centre Managers Conference in Mombasa on April 17, 2026, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku announced that 13 Huduma Centres are ready to begin operations, while more than 20 others are under construction through National Government Constituencies Development Fund support. An additional nine centres are being developed directly under the Huduma Kenya programme. Ruku also disclosed that the government is preparing a Huduma Kenya Bill, which will undergo public participation before being tabled in Parliament. The proposed law aims to streamline operations and grant the agency greater autonomy in service delivery.
Huduma Centres currently offer over 5,000 government services and serve an average of 28,000 customers daily across the country. The agency recorded a customer satisfaction level of nearly 81 percent as of the end of 2024. Officials have encouraged citizens to visit their nearest Huduma Centre for more information on the new procurement services, with specific launch dates to be announced by the agency in due course.
