Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to dispense drugs in the inpatient, outpatient and specialized pharmacies including:

  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

  • Prepare, compound, and dispense medications, verifying prescriptions for dosage accuracy, indications, interactions, contraindications, allergies, and duplication.

  • Maintain and monitor pharmaceutical inventory, ensuring proper storage, security, and timely replenishment; recommend par level adjustments to prevent shortages.

  • Communicate with prescribers for prescription clarifications and document interventions.

  • Ensure accurate and timely medication dispensing and delivery, following the “right patient, right drug, right dose” principle.

  • Oversee controlled drug distribution and maintain strict documentation.

  • Conduct monthly floor stock inspections and manage near-expiry replacements.

  • Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment; ensure cleanliness and safety of the work area.

  • Provide drug information, poison management guidance, and patient counselling (including OPD).

  • Process e-pharmacy and outpatient prescriptions, including cash handling.

  • Perform extemporaneous compounding, bulk preparations, cytotoxic drug and TPN preparation (if assigned), with accurate record keeping.

  • Train and mentor pharmacy interns, trainees, and junior staff.

  • Support other pharmacy-related tasks and projects as required

Requirements:

You should have:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy from a recognized University.

  • Professional registration with Pharmacy Council of Pakistan.

  • One year traineeship in a medium / large hospital OR preferably 1 – 2 year’s experience as a pharmacist.

  • Work weekends, holidays, and rotational shifts when required.

  • Undertake additional related assignments as needed.

  • Familiarity with hospital pharmacy functioning.

  • Sound knowledge of Physiology, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical.

  • Familiarity with locally available drugs, pharmaceutical and their indications.

  • Ability to communicate with medical professionals.
