This role uses specialist technical knowledge to assess claims for individually under written risk for the business and/or specific products.
This role is for a dynamic individual with a willingness to learn and be part of a specialised living benefit claims assessing team.
Role Description & Key Result Areas:
Coaching
· Provide guidance and mentorship to junior claims assessors

Risk Management
· Uses specialist technical knowledge to evaluate and manage the validity of contracts and; determine and manage the liability of claims.
· Determines, selects, and accepts risk and/or liability on behalf of the organisation.
· Evaluate financial and medical evidence against business rules and practices.
· Exercises discretion in decision-making within standardised practice.
Role Requirements
· 3 years of long term Claims Assessing experience (across the Living benefit range) is essential.
· Matric with Biology, Mathematics, or Accounting.
· Completed financially / medically aligned degree, e.g. Nursing, BCOM, BSC or a three (3) year related diploma is essential.
· Must have experience in the Financial Service Industry.
· PC proficiency in MS Office i.e. Word, Excel, etc.
· Attention to detail.
· Strong planning, organising, and time-management skills.
· Well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills skills.
· Innovative and energetic.
· Strong team player.
· Well-developed written & verbal communication skills particularly the ability to have difficult conversations.
· Must be willing to work shifts and overtime where necessary.
