Introduction:
The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university; Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.
The Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) is the first private-sector university-led trans-provincial Board (awarding body) in Pakistan established through the Ordinance of the Government of Pakistan. The Board offers high-quality examinations for Secondary School (grades 9th and 10th – SSC) and Higher Secondary School (grades 11th and 12th – HSSC/ FSC) qualifications for public and private schools across Pakistan. The Board also offers a Middle School Programme (MSP) for grades 6th–8th students and its registered schools engage a globally accepted approach, Project-Based Learning (PBL) to implement the MSP. PBL is considered as a foundation of the AKU-EB MSP, helping schools foster a sense of purpose and leadership in young learners.
At the heart of AKU-EB’s mission is to shift teaching and learning away from rote learning and move towards higher order thinking, preparing students for higher education and lifelong learning. The Board is evaluated internationally for implementing global best practices, making AKU-EB qualifications credible and recognized globally.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Specialist (Humanities) in the Examination Board.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to:
- develop high quality items on a regular basis
- review items on weekly basis or as per recommendation
- develop error-free exam papers which are balanced and grade-appropriate with regards to content coverage and skill coverage and difficulty level
- develop and review syllabi
- develop other relevant learning resources based on the syllabi/ evidence-based research/ assessment outcome/ reports from teacher trainers
- actively participate in creating projects for middle school in Humanities and other subjects (preferentially Sindhi)
- conduct MSP trainings for affiliated schoolteachers
- actively participate in designing and conduct of workshops/ webinars in Humanities and other subjects for teachers and students
- conduct SSC/ HSSC orientation sessions for newly affiliated schools
- capture data resulting from workshops for analysis and research
- publish research work as co-author in at least 1 paper per year.
Requirements:
You should have:
- BS/ MS in Humanities and other relevant subjects
- 3 to 5 years of teaching Humanities and relevant subjects at SSC and HSSC levels
- an excellent understanding/ background of Humanities and relevant subjects at the secondary and higher secondary level
- initiative in workshops, classroom observation, research, e-marking and conduct of exams
- mentorship and team player qualities
- fluency in Urdu and English; exceptional command of written and spoken Urdu and other subjects
- excellent attention to detail
- committed to working with a very talented academic staff in the curriculum and exam preparation area
- understanding of how exams can test critical thinking and reasoning skills in students
- unwavering commitment to the highest quality and integrity in all aspects of one’s work
- eagerness to learn about the work of the AKU-EB
