NRC provides immediate assistance during the onset of emergencies through the rapid response mechanism (RRM). With a workforce of 370 staff and a presence in key locations such as Maiduguri (in Borno State), Yola (in Adamawa State) and Jos (in Plateau State), NRC can respond to the needs of those affected by the conflict across North-East, and North Central Nigeria.These strategic locations have allowed NRC greater reach from the north and south parts of the North-East and North Central region and allowed NRC to contribute to bridging the gap between humanitarian aid and development cooperation, including by focusing on equitable access to basic services and strengthening the rights of displaced people and returnees. In addition to the Country Office and the above-mentioned Area Offices, NRC has sub-office structures in Dikwa, Monguno, Biu, Mubi, Pulka and Gwoza.We are looking for people who are passionate about helping refugees and people forced to flee. If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Finance Technical Assistant to join our team in Maiduguri, Borno State. You will be responsible for day-to-day implementation of the support functions responsibilities for the NRC Area North office. ResponsibilitiesGeneric Responsibilities:Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelinesImplement delegated support function portfolio according to plan of actinEnsure proper filing of documents both in hard and softPromote and share ideas for improvement of the support functionSpecific Responsibilities Ensure that cash are kept properly, payment process and other financial processes take place in adherence to Financial Handbook, other NRC policies and donor and the authorities requirementsMake sure that daily cash counts are maintained.Make sure posting of transactions are done on daily basis.Make sure payments are processed on timeBe responsible for bank transactions in line with NRC policy and procedures;Posting of income and cost into bank cash boxes i.e. USD and NGN daily basis.Be the focal person between Area Office and Field office in regard to funds transfer requests and other payments through bank.Ensure timely clearance of field office cash box.Be responsible for release of payment to contractors & other payments as stipulated in the contract/agreement(s) & in line with NRC policies and procedures.Ensure control for the prevention of waste, fraud and mismanagement before processing the payments.Keep good control of the Field offices, banks details and assist them with tools in use by NRC.Responsible for keeping of cash in officeResponsible for scanning and archiving finance documentation as per SSDi guidelines for the Field Office on a weekly and monthly basis. If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Driver to join our team in Maiduguri, Borno State. You will be responsible for safely transporting NRC staff/visitors and equipment/materials to approved destinations in the NRC Area North office. ResponsibilitiesGeneric ResponsibilitiesTransport NRC staff, visitors, documents and goods/materials to designated destinations when officially approvedEnsure the safety and security of the passengers, the goods and the vehicleImmediately report accidents, breakdowns and needs of repair and general maintenance/serviceRespect the local traffic regulations and the NRC logistical, drivers and vehicle policies at all timesMaintain the logbook for all tripsMaintain the vehicle in proper operating condition at all times, including keeping the vehicle clean, ensuring enough fuel, checking the technical state etc. In liaison with the line manager/direct supervisor, arrange for repairs and servicing Ensure the assigned vehicle has all the necessary documents and equipment Provide logistical support during training and workshops. Specific ResponsibilitiesThe driver shall strictly follow the Nigerian traffic law, rules and speed limits and shall drive in a safe and defensive manner. In the event of an accident, the driver shall ensure that all steps, rules and regulations are followed, including filling in the incident report.The driver is responsible for cleaning and performing the daily check on the vehicle and shall ensure that it is in a safe running condition. He/she is also responsible for checking the oil level, water level, batteries, brakes, tyres, etc; and that the vehicle is at all times equipped with a first aid kit, a good spare tyre and all prescribed tools and equipment. He/she will report promptly and in writing to NRC is some tools are missing.The driver is responsible for logging in (on the logbook) all trips and ensuring that other drivers that may use the vehicle do the same. The driver should ensure that the fuel tanks as a rule should always be completely full, if possible, and the quantity of litres dispensed should be properly recorded in the logbook. The driver shall ensure that all required licenses, insurance cards and vehicle permits are valid and available in the vehicle including accident reports. He/she must also ensure that own driving license and other relevant driving papers are up to date. The driver shall follow the instructions provided in the NRC’s Driver Manual.The driver is responsible for performing minor repairs if needed while major repairs should be reported to the supervisor before planning.Ensure the assigned vehicle is always in good working condition and meets NRC safety and security standardsBe flexible to work any shift during the 24 hrs day i.e. 08.00 a.m to 4.30p.m; 4.00p.m to 12.00 a.m; 12.00 a.m to 08.00 a.m including weekends and public holidays.
