The Samburu County Government has announced several employment opportunities for qualified Kenyan citizens. Positions range from senior leadership roles such as County Chief Officer to entry-level administrative posts, including Village Administrators and Supply Chain Management Officers.
The county, located in the northern region of Kenya, is known for its rich cultural heritage and strategic importance in the pastoralist economy. According to findings from the shores of Lake Turkana, the region has been inhabited since the dawn of the very first humans. In the past few centuries, the land has been roamed by various pastoralist communities who continue to shape its identity today.

Available Positions
The Samburu County Public Service Board is seeking to fill the following positions:
County Chief Officer, Revenue and Resource Mobilization
This senior role involves overseeing revenue collection strategies, identifying new sources of county revenue, and mobilizing resources for development projects. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in finance, economics, or public administration, with proven experience in resource mobilization at the county or national level.
Administration Officer (Village Administrator) – 8 Positions
These positions are based at the village level across Samburu County. Village Administrators will be responsible for coordinating government services, resolving local disputes, and facilitating communication between the county government and residents. Candidates must have relevant administrative experience and knowledge of the local area.
Assistant Director Public Service and Administration
This role supports the Director in managing human resources, overseeing public service delivery, and ensuring compliance with county government policies. Candidates should have experience in public administration, human resource management, or a related field.
Deputy Director, Peace and Cohesion Building
Given Samburu County’s location in a region that has experienced inter-community conflicts, this position is critical. The Deputy Director will design and implement peace-building programs, promote social cohesion, and work with local leaders, security agencies, and non-governmental organizations to maintain stability.
Head of Supply Chain Management
This senior officer will oversee procurement, inventory management, and logistics for the county government. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with public procurement laws, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing supply chain operations. Candidates must have extensive experience in supply chain management, preferably in the public sector.
Deputy Director, Investment and Partnerships Coordinator
This role focuses on attracting local and international investors to Samburu County. The officer will identify investment opportunities, build partnerships with private sector entities and development partners, and coordinate investment promotion activities. Experience in investment promotion, business development, or economic planning is required.
Deputy Director Technical Advisory Services
This position provides technical guidance to county departments on policy implementation, project management, and service delivery. Candidates should have expertise in a relevant technical field such as engineering, planning, or project management.
Deputy Director Research and Policy Coordination
The officer will oversee research activities, coordinate policy development, and ensure that county decisions are informed by data and evidence. Experience in research, policy analysis, or strategic planning is essential.
Deputy Director Strategy and Programs Coordination
This role involves developing and implementing strategic plans for county programs, monitoring progress, and ensuring alignment with the county’s development agenda. Candidates must have experience in program coordination, strategic planning, or project management.
Supply Chain Management Officer I – 3 Positions
These officers will support the Head of Supply Chain Management in procurement, inventory control, and logistics. Responsibilities include processing purchase orders, managing stock levels, and ensuring compliance with procurement regulations. Candidates should have a diploma or degree in supply chain management, procurement, or a related field, with relevant work experience.

Application Deadline
All applications, whether posted or hand-delivered, must reach the Board by the close of business on or before June 5, 2026. Late applications will not be considered.

About Samburu County
Samburu County is one of Kenya’s 47 counties, located in the former Rift Valley Province. It borders Marsabit County to the northeast, Isiolo County to the east, Laikipia County to the south, Baringo County to the southwest, and Turkana County to the west.
