Consultant – Digital Information Architect at International Rescue Committee

Switchboard is seeking a consultant with a background in information science or library science to review and organize the content in our resource library on the www.Switchboardta.org website.

2. Scope of work

Review and revise the overall taxonomy for Switchboard’s online content based on information science principles

Analyze search data to improve how users search and browse the online library

Create and update records so online resources are aligned with taxonomy, i.e., easy to find and understand (make sure titles, descriptions, subjects, and links are accurate and consistent)

Retag and clean existing resource library posts to align with new taxonomy (requires some basic facility with WordPress and hands-on work, not just making recommendations but actively cleaning the data)

Write documentation and guidelines for our team to follow at the conclusion of the consultancy

Deliverables:

A written workplan to outline the analysis of Switchboard’s online content, based on best practices of information science principles. The workplan should include the implementation of the points outlined in of the scope of work

Search data is analyzed and a written conclusion of improvements is made

The identified improvements of search data are implemented (including reviewing the descriptions of resources, and updating the descriptions)

The website taxonomy updates are completed according to the work plan

Payment Rate and Schedule:

  • Total Budget: $10,000

  • Payments can be made on a monthly basis or upon completion of each deliverable stage.
